Tripura Global Festival 2026 Celebrates Agricultural Heritage; Local Farmer Honoured in New Delhi
NEW DELHI — The Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium hosted the vibrant Tripura Global Festival 2026, a three-day event held from June 27 to June 29, showcasing the state’s rich cultural and agricultural achievements.
A major highlight of the festival was the recognition of regional agricultural excellence. Among the many participants, Pu Hneliana Darlong, hailing from the village of Hmunbei, was recognised for his outstanding contributions and presented with a cash award of ₹ 25,000.
His participation brings renewed attention to the socio-economic importance of Tripura’s renowned agricultural sectors. The state has a celebrated history of pineapple cultivation, particularly its premium “Queen” variety, which successfully secured a Geographical Indication (GI) tag in 2014. Further cementing its cultural and economic significance, the Tripura government officially declared the pineapple as the state fruit in 2018.
